Microsoft regulates the appearance of the Windows key logo picture with a specially crafted license for keyboard manufacturers ("Microsoft Windows Logo Key Logo License Agreement for Keyboard Manufacturers"). This requirement was relaxed in Windows 8.1, allowing the Windows key to be placed on any bezel or edge of the unit, though a centered location along the bottom bezel is still preferred.

On Windows 8 tablet computers, hardware certification requirements initially mandated that the Windows key be centered on the bezel below the screen, except on a convertible laptop, where the button is allowed to be off-center in a tablet configuration. On Microsoft's Entertainment Desktop sets (designed for Windows Vista), the Windows key is in the middle of the keyboard, below all other keys (where the user's thumbs rest). In laptop and other compact keyboards it is common to have just one Windows key (usually on the left). The key is predated by the ⌘ Command key on Apple computers in 1980 and the Meta key in LISP/ UNIX computers in 1970. Compared to the former layout, a Windows key was placed between the left Ctrl and the left Alt and another Windows key and the menu key were placed between the right Alt (or AltGr) and the right Ctrl key.

Does anyone have any ideas how this might be achieved.Historically, the addition of two Windows keys and a menu key marked the change from the 101/102-key to 104/105-key layout for PC keyboards. Once users start accessing the file (probably thru Sharepoint 365), I don't want them to get the same message as it might well confuse them! It's only recently started to happen.
I know I can discard the line by clicking the X at the right-hand end, but I would like Excel to stop producing this message. Why is Excel telling me it's read-only, or I only have read-only access? I know. The moment I change the property to read-only Excel gets upset that it is read-only. Same also happens if I use right-click to create a new XLSX workbook in Explorer (obviously, no content & no chance yet for anyone else to open it!). When I check the status of OneDrive it reports "OneDrive is to date". Similarly, opening Excel using the /R switch and the filename (with read-only property unticked) reports the same message. Toggling this setting will consistently turn this error message ON or OFF. If I then change that flag and open it, Excel gives me the error message. Open it with no read-only flag set in Properties, no msg (about locked by another user). I can prove to myself that it isn't locked by another user by copying the file using Explorer then opening it. READ-ONLY This workbook is locked for editing by another user.

If however I mark it read-only in the Properties tab -or- open it with Excel 2016 on Windows 10 using the /R switch, Excel gives me a line with yellow background telling me.
If I open the file for editing, all is good, everything works.
